Mr Brinkworth brings 22 years of international pharmaceutical industry experience from his career at US-headquartered, Nasdaq-listed Gilead Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: GILD). During his tenure, Gilead grew from a small biotech-pharmaceutical company into a multi-billion-dollar global pharmaceutical business. Across his career at Gilead, Mr Brinkworth held a series of senior commercial, strategic licensing and patient access roles, including Executive Director of Gilead Sciences Global Patient Solutions, where he was responsible for developing and implementing commercial and access strategies for emerging markets. Mr Rob McKenzie, Chair of the Board of BSB, said: “Aaron's two decades at the centre of global pharma commercial strategy, patient access and licensing bring exactly the kind of expertise BSB needs as we advance BSP 0001 through preclinical development and toward the clinic. His experience building access pathways across 31 countries, and his deep network across the industry, will be invaluable as we pursue partnering discussions and prepare for early commercialisation of our ALS program.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Brinkworth said: “I am excited to join Black Swan Biotech's Board at such a pivotal stage for the Company. ALS remains an area of enormous unmet medical need, and BSB's precision RNA approach to CNS disease is genuinely differentiated. I look forward to contributing my commercial and access experience as the team advances BSP 0001 and builds out the Company's pipeline.”
Mr Brinkworth also currently serves as non-executive chair for Resonance Health LTD (ASX: RHT), non-executive director for Proteomics International Laboratories Ltd (ASX:PIQ), non-executive chair for Atherid Therapeutics Pty Ltd and non-executive director for Lixa Ltd.
