Our Technology

Black Swan Biotech is advancing precision medicine through NeuroPMO™, our proprietary phosphorodiamidate morpholino oligomer (PMO) platform — a distinct class of antisense oligonucleotide engineered for the CNS. NeuroPMO™ is designed to reach deep into neural tissue and act on the key biological pathways driving neurodegenerative disease. BSB is developing a next-generation platform of PMOs for the CNS, with the goal of delivering best-in-class new treatments for people living with ALS.

The right therapy for every patient

We are developing precision PMO medicines for CNS diseases, starting with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and a lead focus on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Our mission is to deliver targeted treatments: the right treatment for every patient thereby transforming clinical outcomes and improving quality of life for people living with ALS, and beyond.

Precision Medicine starts with better data

Every patient is biologically unique. Precision medicine harnesses molecular, genetic, and clinical data to uncover the biology of disease at an individual level. By identifying the biological signals that drive disease, our approach enables more accurate diagnosis, improves patient selection for clinical trials, and accelerates the development of targeted therapies built around specific disease mechanisms — not a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

And Precision Diagnosis

Biological pathways in MND/ALS pathology

SOD1

Problem: MND/ALS patients often have toxic clumps of a protein called SOD1 in their brain and spinal cord. These clumps damage nerve cells, causing cell death and drive the progression of MND/ALS.

TDP-43

Wide influence: TDP-43 is a protein that regulates the activity of many genes (over 6000), including its own. Proper control of TDP-43 is essential for healthy cell function.

FUS

Gene Regulation and Repair: The FUS protein plays a crucial role in regulating gene activity and repairing DNA, protecting nerve cells from damage.
